Fluid Milk and Cream - Eastern U.S.
Report 16 - Released on April 21, 2021
Milk production in the Northeast is fairly level this week. Class I sales are reportedly
steady to lower. Class II and III operations are receiving a stable amount of milk supplies
for production schedules. Foodservice sales continue to improve for various dairy products.
Retailers are continuing to expand in store-pick up options to meet consumer interests.
Market participants note trucking/tanker challenges for some haulers in the East. Mid-
Atlantic milk output is somewhat flat. Milk supply is balanced with manufacturing demands.
Southeast milk output is slightly up. There are reports milk output is reaching its peak off
farms. Class I sales are stable. Bottlers have been ordering a steady supply of milk. Some
milk loads are available for Class II/III processing. In Florida, milk production is past
its peak this spring season. Class I orders are healthy. Cream supplies are mixed in the
region. Market participants report some cream contract prices are higher than spot load
prices. Cream markets are holding a stable to mixed market tone. Butter makers are receiving
steady milk and cream supplies. Condensed skim volumes are available for contract/spot
needs. Condensed skim markets are mostly steady.
